We've known each other for a very long time!

As the founders of Paint Rock Farm, we — William Dickerson, Allison Smith, and Chris Nelson — were inspired by the incomparable beauty and ease of mountain life. We wanted to create something different, a place that would chase away the worries of a “typical” wedding or event venue and provide a rare canvas for those with an appreciation for nature.

The story of Paint Rock Farm and the team at Paint Rock Farm is a wonderful culmination of friends and family old and new who feel grateful to have found a dream property on which  to realize many lifelong aspirations. Tama and Chris first met in high school and have been life-long friends.  Chris introduced Tama to Allison many moons ago, and the rest is history.  Anthony and Amber have  lived within minutes of Paint Rock Farm their entire lives. The farm itself is the true star of this partnership and we only strive to be able to be the best stewards of this extraordinary land so that it will be able to be enjoyed in its pristine state for generations to come.

Tama’s  lifelong interest’s in nature, healing, and conservation have led to extensive training in Breathwork and other related practices as well as becoming an Ordained Ministerial Counselor which has worked out handy with the ability to officiate weddings. His main other work is as a founding Partner of Olivette Riverside Community and Farm, a cutting edge residential Agrihood development in Asheville which has received many state and local accolades including the 2019 NAHB Best in American Living award for Best Green Community.

Chris has been a chiropractor since 1985 and owner of Exodus herbs. He has been a long time “back to the land” lifestyle advocate creating homesteads in both New Mexico and New York. He currently lives in Asheville with his son Jude. Chris skills in carpentry and design have been a huge contribution to the everything we build there.

Alison is a published author and designer, and a multi-talented creative force.   She is a founding partner of Olivette Riverside Community and Farm and is currently Director of Sales & Marketing.

Kerewin is currently pursuing a double major in English and Mass Communications while working part time. Her natural skills at writing and social media have helped take Paint Rock Farm’s exposure to the next level.

Anthony was born and raised in Hot Springs and has been very happy to see the farm that was once owned by his uncle fulfill a new destiny. A  jack of all trades he has beautifuly restored the barn , built our bathhouse and glamping cabins, and tended the fields and farm as well. In particular being able to lovingly restore the barn his uncle built, and one that he helped hang with tobacco as a young man has been a real inspiration to him.

Amber was also born and raised right down the road where she still lives and raises her two children Eli and Emma along with managing her family homestead with a plethora of animals and gardens. She both keeps Paint Rock Farm clean and inviting and is our tour guide for weddings and events.

The family of Paint Rock Farm is incredibly grateful and inspired to be able to create a place where people can come and be touched by and inspired by nature, celebrate one of the most important days of their lives, gather with friends and family,  meet others who share a love for getting back to true nature, and experience a farm growing medicinal plants. We look forward to meeting you when at all possible and providing you with an extraordinary experience!
